Our Neighborhood

Our Goal : To improve the safety and quality of life in the Kidd Springs area and to know our neighbors better.

Kidd Springs is one of the most diverse and historic areas of North Oak Cliff.

Only two miles from Downtown Dallas, our neighborhood includes homes built in early 1900s through the 20s, 30s, and 40s, as well as high end new construction all with beautiful tree lines streets in a walkable neighborhood. Although known as a historic residential area, Kidd Springs is becoming the center of the City’s plans for future new urban living because it is surrounded by areas which are being carefully redeveloped to keep Oak Cliff’s charm, but also creating opportunities for dense urban development.

Kidd Springs is centered on the 200 acre Kidd Springs Park, but to the north is Colorado Blvd, to the north east is Methodist Dallas Medical Center. On the east side are Bishop Avenue, Zang Boulevard, and Beckley Avenue all parts of the City’s Oak Cliff Gateway project. This project is linking North Oak Cliff, including Kidd Springs, to the greater Dallas Trinity River Corridor Project which will be the most complex and the largest urban development effort ever undertaken by the City of Dallas.

The Oak Cliff Gateway will soon become Dallas’s premier “Urban Living” area, with streetcars, bike lanes plans in development, and areas to the north east of Kidd Springs plans are being made for high density housing, offices, and dense retail development and will help link our area to downtown and the new Trinity River parks.

On the south west of Kidd Springs is the historic Bishop Arts district with over 50 local merchants (including numerous restaurants, shops, galleries and boutiques). The southern boundary includes the historic West Davis Street area with diverse shops, service businesses, and restaurants. After several years of study the Bishop Davis area is now planned to be carefully redeveloped to retain its historic nature while bringing in new economic development to the area.

Finally, on the west and north boundaries of our neighborhood are the Kings Highway, Kessler Park and East Kessler neighborhoods which when combined with Kidd Springs, make North Oak Cliff one of the most interesting and sought after residential areas of Dallas since it combines close in urban living with established single family residential homes.
